PHOTO WORK
Coney Island, 20" x 20" each, silver gelatin prints
3rd Person: Self-portrait series, 24" x 36" each, digital inkjet prints
In this photo series, I reimagine intimate scenes from early in my marriage with a mannequin as my
stand-in. The photos speak to the isolation that can occur even when engaged with someone else.
The mannequin achieves a level of physical perfection that I was never able to attain.

Here I explore the tension between the public and private self – what we choose to reveal to people, and what we unwittingly show. In this series, my friend gave me permission to take photos from outside her apartment, not knowing when I would take the photos during a given month, or what I would capture. The images are displayed alongside an mp4 player with looped sounds of my breathing, creeping around outside in her courtyard at night, and my camera shutter clicking.
